Faulkner goes 2-for-2 in weekly honors as NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. – A week that led to three wins, including a pair of wins over NAIA ranked opponents, led the Campbellsville University women's basketball team to an 11-0 record and senior forward Madison Faulkner to earn NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week, officials announced Monday afternoon.

Faulkner averaged 18 points and six rebounds over the three CU wins with a pair of 20 points games and a double-double on Saturday against No. 8 Westmont where the Lady Tigers won 70-67. Faulkner dropped a season-high 24 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and adding three assists as Campbellsville was able to hold off a potent Warriors team.

Earlier in the week, the Horse Cave, Ky. native scored 20 and 10 points respectively in games against West Virginia Tech and No. 14 MidAmerica Nazarene. Faulkner has been the only member of the Lady Tigers so far this season to record double figure point totals in every game this season as she leads the team with a 15.1 points per game average through 11 games.

Faulkner was named the NCCAA Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season after she averaged 13 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. She was also named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball earlier on Monday for her first conference selection of the season and third of her career.

Faulkner and the Lady Tigers will begin MSC play this Saturday with the Battle of Highway 55 when they head to Columbia, Ky. for a meeting with the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders at the Biggers Sports Complex.
