Lady Tigers blow out Georgetown to earn first MSC regular season championship since 2015

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville women's basketball earned the Mid-South Conference regular season title Thursday night in the Powell Athletic Center with their 88-62 win over Georgetown College.

It is CU's first regular season conference championship since the 2014-15 season when they finished as conference tournament and NAIA tournament runner-up.

The Lady Tigers shot exactly 50 percent from the field, led by Jordan Doram's 20 points off the bench on 9-of-11 shooting from the field. GC had no answer for Doram in the post as the senior from Georgetown, Ky. went to work against her hometown team. Behind Doram's 20, CU scored 50 points in the paint compared to just 26 from Georgetown.

Three other Campbellsville players scored in double figures as Savannah Gregory scored 13, Lexy Lake added 12 off the bench and Madison Faulkner dropped 10. Gregory was all over the floor on defense again with five steals, Faulkner grabbed six rebounds and all of Lake's points came on four three-pointers, three of which came in the third quarter.

The starting trio of Caitlin Hall, Madison Stewart and Madison Kaiser hit the jackpot, each scoring seven points in the game. Hall was, as usually, the team leader in assists in the game with nine and also added four steals on the night. Stewart was the team leader for Campbellsville with eight rebounds as she also added two takeaways.

The Lady Tigers outscored Georgetown 23-10 in a big first quarter and led GC by an 18-point margin at halftime 42-24. That first half allowed CU to score even with Georgetown in the third quarter and still cruise in the fourth behind a total of 49 bench minutes out of a possible 100.

That bench finished with 44 points behind Doram's 20 and Lake's 12 but the Georgetown bench actually matched it with 44 of their own. GC's leading scorer was Alexis Stapleton who scored 16 points off the bench on 6-of-9 shooting and going 4-for-6 from three.

Campbellsville will be off the weekend as they will play next Thursday in the home finale for senior night at the Powell Athletic Center against Shawnee State.
