Lady Tiger seniors go out with 20-point win over No. 12 Shawnee State, 84-63

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A 27-2 record on the year sounds nice thus far but a 13-0 record in the Powell Athletic Center sounds even better tonight after Campbellsville dominated No. 12 Shawnee State, 84-63.

The third-ranked Lady Tigers used a big third quarter where they doubled-up the Bears, 22-11, to push out to their first double-figure lead. Once Campbellsville led by as big as 14 points with 2:37 left in the third, Shawnee State (21-8, 8-5 MSC) never got the lead any lower.

The 20-point win matches the largest margin of victory in the series by the Lady Tigers under head coach Ginger High Colvin – which came on March 8, 2014 in the Mid-South Conference semifinals. That score was also, 84-63.

The senior night win sent the four Lady Tiger veterans out with a perfect record at home, 13-0, and saw big nights from Jordan Doram and Madison Kaiser. Doram led the way with 17 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kaiser finished with 16 points, three boards, three assists and a steal. Madison Stewart was 3-of-6 from the floor and scored eight points, including seven rebounds. Alexus Calhoun saw action in four minutes tonight.

In addition to the seniors, Madison Faulkner led the way with 18 points off the bench. She also matched Savannah Gregory a team-high nine rebounds, as Gregory tallied 16 points and seven steals to sniff another triple-double.

Caitlin Hall had another solid night passing, dishing out seven dimes to lead CU while Shyla Calbert had six in just 11 minutes of play.

Overall, Campbellsville dominated in the paint by outscoring the Bears, 44-28. CU also finished with 22 assists on the 29 made buckets (29-of-64) for 45 percent.

The Lady Tigers led 17-16 after the first quarter and 39-34 after the first half, but it was a big run to start the third quarter that brought the Powell Athletic Center packed house to its feet.

CU went on an 8-2 run and led 47-36 for the first double-digit lead of the night. With 3:37 left in the third, Kaiser hit Gregory with a one-handed backdoor pass to put CU ahead by 12, 52-40. The lead kept growing. Calbert found Doram underneath, Lexy Lake banged her first 3 of the night and after Calbert picked up a steal, she found Gregory on a fast break with 1:55 left to push CU's advantage to 19 points, 59-40.

During the run, the Lady Tigers held Shawnee State scoreless for almost four minutes.

The Bears had one final push in them to work the lead down to a manageable mark, but Kaiser nailed her lone 3 of the night to end the rally by Shawnee State.

The win improved the Lady Tigers to 13-0 inside Mid-South Conference play with one final regular contest left. CU travels to University of Pikeville on Saturday with tipoff at 2 p.m. ET. Coverage begins on the CU Sports Network at 1:45.
