AUBURN DALE, Fla. — Aleigha Talsma tossed her second-straight complete game victory and Morgan Gailor matched her career-high with eight strikeouts in the night cap to lead Campbellsville past Bryan College and No. 22 Southeastern 3-1 and 4-3.

Talsma (2-0) went seven innings, allowed one unearned run off six hits while striking out three. Tori Humphrey led the offensive attack in the first inning with a three-run home run – her first long ball of the season.

Gailor (1-1) tossed her first complete game of the year and picked up her first win. The senior went the distance allowing four hits, one earned run and striking out eight – matching her career-high from her sophomore season vs. Cumberland University and Georgetown College.

The long ball was prominent in the second game as well. Ryley Whitney delivered her second home run of the season in the second inning to put the Lady Tigers ahead 1-0 – a lead CU never gave up.

Campbellsville 3, Bryan 1
The three-run blast was the difference maker as Campbellsville was able to muster seven hits but left eight runners on base.

Talsma cruised early on, including an eight-pitch inning in the second to sit the Lions down 1-2-3. The Lions picked up their first hit of the day in the third from nine-hole hitter Shannon White but Talsma worked out of the frame with a ground ball and pop up.

Talsma picked up help from her defense in the fourth. Fellow freshman Payton Blades showed off her canon in centerfield. After a single by Madison Owens, Blades chased the gapper down and threw Owens out at second base trying to stretch her hit into a double.

The Lady Tigers had chances in the fifth and sixth but stranded three runners. The Lions brought the game-tying run to the plate in the seventh after a one-out single but Talsma worked around it as well.

Humphrey led the way at the plate with two hits, while Blades had a base knock along with Talsma, Riley Hurst, Ryleigh Oldham and Hannah Judd

Campbellsville 4, Southeastern 3
Gailor had a no-hitter through three innings and 1-0 lead after the Whitney round tripper in the second frame. The Fire picked up their first hit in the fourth inning – an infield single – by Heather Faulk but the defense worked out of the jam.

CU added its second run in the bottom of the fourth after Riley Hurst legged out a double in shallow centerfield. After a sac bunt by Ryleigh Oldham, Mia Aldridge delivered an RBI single to centerfield.

Campbellsville added two more insurance runs in the fifth. Freshman Hannah Judd came up with the bases loaded and stepped up with a two-RBI single scoring Lexi Miller, who doubled, and Ryley Whitney, who walked.

But in the fourth and fifth frames, the Lady Tigers had more chances to push runs across but stranded four. Overall, Campbellsville stranded eight base runners – 16 on the day in the two games.

The Fire were able to get back in the game in the sixth and seventh. A leadoff single by Hannah Bonner ended up coming around to score from third base on a ground out to Kelly Wheeler at second base.

In the seventh, Southeastern scored two unearned runs after a leadoff error – the third of the game and sixth of the day for CU. It was Kaylee Orr hitting a two-run home run with a full count and two outs to cut the lead to one, 4-3.

Gailor was able to end the night and seal the win with a ground ball to Wheeler.
