Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Brett Tudela

Life carries first set win momentum into sweep over Tigers in Georgia

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Campbellsville men's volleyball team went down to Georgia with a two-match winning streak but were unable to pull out a victory in their first match of the weekend against Life University.

The first set ended up being the deciding factor as the Running Eagles pulled out an extended set 31-29 victory. An extremely back-and-forth set saw neither team gain more than a three-point advantage as LU avoided the set loss twice as CU had set point. The Tigers were unable to close out the set despite hitting for a better percentage in the set at .342 compared to Life's .256.

In the second set, CU trailed 22-18 before going on a 4-0 run to tie the score at 22 all, forcing Life to call a timeout. After that, the Running Eagles scored three-straight points to win the set 25-22.

In the second and third sets, the Tigers were unable to hit for a percentage over .100 with a .031 percentage in the second and a .032 percentage in the third. Life continued to hit above .200 in the match with a .250 hitting percentage in the second and a .227 hitting percentage in the third.

The third set went the way of the Running Eagles as they finished the set with a 25-20 win to close out the match.

Jason Camacho continued to hit the ball well for the Tigers with a match-high 14 kills and a .200 hitting percentage. Rafael Cruz added 11 kills for CU but no other Tiger was able to record more than five kills in the match.

Campbellsville will come back to play tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. ET against St. Andrews, who they defeated 3-1 last Saturday at the Campbellsville University Invitational.
