Tigers host Siena Heights for first weekend series at HIG Field of 2019

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The CU baseball team will get back to regularly scheduled competition this weekend as they welcome in Siena Height University for a three-game series at HIG Field.

The schedule for the weekend will see the Tigers and the Saints play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. ET and Sunday's single game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

As it has for a lot of the early parts of the season, weather could be at play this weekend with rain and snow in the forecast for Sunday in Campbellsville. Teams are confident in getting Saturday's games in with the remainder of Friday and all of Saturday looking dry.

The Tigers are going into the weekend having lost their last five games dating back to Feb. 16 against Reinhardt. CU scored two or fewer runs in four of those five games, only scoring a run in each of their last two on Tuesday against Tennessee Wesleyan.

Against the Bulldogs, the Tigers were only able to record eight total hits in the two games but even when they were able to get base runners, the double play ball hurt CU as they grounded into four in the two games. A constant that Campbellsville hasn't had to worry about at the plate is centerfielder and leadoff hitter Tyson Solis, who is hitting .436 over the first 10 games with five doubles.

Campbellsville will likely have their entire pitching staff available, as the highest workload a pitcher saw on Tuesday was the 86 pitches thrown by Anthony Arias. Arias could be slated for Sunday's with Eric Little, Malcom Grady and Tyler Deason all seeing lighter days on Tuesday at Tennessee Wesleyan.

Siena Heights has yet to play a single game so far this season as they had their entire February schedule cancelled for weather related reasons. In the 2018 season, the Saints finished 18-34 as they hit .297 as a team but allowed almost seven earned runs per nine innings with a 6.96 ERA.

After this weekend, the Tigers will head into Campbellsville's spring break with plans to add road games to make up for earlier cancelled games before another weekend series at HIG Field against Fisher Collge.
