GEICO Bassmaster Classic starts Friday morning on Tennessee River

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The 2019 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods gets started tomorrow, Friday, March 15th, on the Tennessee River.

Campbellsville's Nick Ratliff is the first Tiger to fish in The Classic and he is the lone college angler in the field of 51 other professionals.

Fans can follow The Classic multiple ways. Bassmaster is providing BASSLive, Live Mix and Live Weigh-In coverage throughout the day. Also, fans can follow BassCam, BassTrak and the Bassmaster Classic Blog for photos and updates throughout the tournament.

The 2019 Bassmaster Classic Expo is also open to all fans throughout the tournament and is free of charge. In recent years, tackle and lure companies have been using the Classic Expo as the venue to introduce their newest products to bass fishing fans. The 2019 Expo will cover 220,000 square feet across two venues.

Arguably, the largest event of its kind in the country, this exhibit of the latest in bass fishing equipment and outdoor gear will be housed in the Knoxville Convention Center and the adjacent World's Fair Exhibition Hall, which was newly renovated in the spring of 2018.

Weigh-ins will be at University of Tennessee's Thompson Boling Arena starting approximately at 4:15 p.m. ET each day.

Ratliff qualified for the Bassmaster Classic after winning the 2018 Bassmaster College Series Classic Bracket in Junction City, Kansas last August. He has spent the last week in Knoxville preparing for the biggest tournament of his career thus far.

After practicing last weekend, Ratliff last fished on Wednesday for the official Bassmaster Classic practice round. The anglers were invited to a dinner on Wednesday night - and Thursday was spent visiting with over 200 media members covering the Super Bowl of bass fishing.

Tomorrow morning, Marshalls are being summoned at 5 a.m. ET at the Boat Yard, Ratliff will put his boat in the water around 6:30 and take off is scheduled for 7:40 a.m. ET at Calhoun's on the River.
