Prolific professional angler David Walker joins Campbellsville as Bass Fishing Head Coach

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University is proud to announce David Walker as the new Head Coach of the Tiger Bass Fishing Team, the Athletic Department shared Monday.

Walker brings more than 30 years of professional fishing experience and one of the most accomplished resumes in the sport. Throughout his distinguished career, he has competed at the highest levels of professional bass fishing, including B.A.S.S., FLW, Major League Fishing Pro Tour, and Bass Pro Tour, earning a reputation as one of the most respected competitors in the industry.

His career accomplishments include FLW Angler of the Year, FLW Series Angler of the Year, two-time BFL Angler of the Year, Bassmaster Elite Series Champion, Ultimate Match Fishing Champion, and Toyota Texas Bass Classic Champion. Walker is also one of only two professional anglers ever featured on a Wheaties cereal box, a distinction that reflects both his success and influence within the sport.

Over a 30-year professional career, Walker has competed in more than 430 tournaments at the highest levels of the sport across B.A.S.S., FLW, and Major League Fishing. His accomplishments include 13 Bassmaster Classic qualifications, 10 Forrest Wood Cup Championship appearances, Redcrest appearances, multiple Angler of the Year titles, and championship victories that have made him one of the most accomplished and respected anglers in professional bass fishing.

For Walker, the opportunity to lead Campbellsville University's fishing program is more than just the next chapter in his career; it's a full circle. While his professional journey carried him across the country, it began in Kentucky more than 30 years ago. In many ways, his journey brings him back to Kentucky.

Now, after a career filled with championships, national recognition, and success at the highest levels of competitive fishing, Walker is bringing that experience back to the Bluegrass State to help develop the next generation of anglers.
As head coach, Walker's vision extends far beyond tournament success. He is committed to building a championship culture, developing student-athletes both on and off the water, creating meaningful relationships, and preparing young anglers for success in competition, their careers, and their communities.

Walker and his wife, Misty, along with their daughters, Lilly and Olivia, have spent decades traveling the tournament trail together. Through victories, challenges, and countless memories, they have built a family centered on faith, hard work, perseverance, and a shared passion for the outdoors.

Walker's commitment to mentoring young anglers is rooted in the same values that guided his professional career: faith, hard work, integrity, and perseverance. He looks forward to helping Campbellsville University student-athletes grow not only as competitors but also as leaders, both on and off the water.
