SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Campbellsville University men's volleyball team won their 14
th-straight match Friday evening against Cardinal Stritch University in a 3-0 sweep in their first match of the Lourdes University Invitational.
After rotating the lineup a bit the night before against Thomas More, CU went with their normal lineup against the Wolves.
Rafael Cruz led the match with 14 kills,
Jeremy Hernandez led the match with 32 assists, and
Joudiel Poveymirow led the match with 13 digs.
Right behind Cruz on the offensive attack was
Jason Camacho, who was the only other player in the match with double-digit kills at 10 for the match.
Nils Kleinschmidt and
Max Stotridge added four kills apiece with two coming from
Jose Viera Cerame and
Noah Henkel.
Defensively the Tigers had another solid game with 38 digs and seven blocks to help only allow a .078 hitting percentage from Cardinal Stritch in the match. Kleinschmit and Stotridge led the blocking effort with each helping in part of four blocks as Stotridge also had a solo block.
Behind Poveymirow with the digs was a nice night on full rotations from Cruz, Camacho, and Hernandez as the trio combined for 19 digs. Camacho had seven as Cruz and Hernandez both had six to finish the match.
Campbellsville will play their final matches of the 2019 regular season Saturday morning when they get up bright and early to face Lawrence Tech before facing the No. 2 team in the NAIA Coaches' Poll in hosts Lourdes University.
