CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Coming off of winning four of their five games last week, the Campbellsville University baseball team will have another five-game week starting Tuesday with a doubleheader at Martin Methodist College.

The Tigers found a way to sweep the three-game series at HIG Field against Cumberland University with a 3-2 10-inning win on Thursday followed by wins of 5-0 and another 3-2 walk off in the seven-inning finale.

The walk off victories came off the bats of
Chris Taitague on Thursday and
Tyler Deason in Friday's game two and in each of those contests, CU was a strike away from losing each game. The 5-0 victory was behind a complete game shutout from Deason who allowed only six hits and struck out eight Phoenix batters over the nine innings.

The pitching staff was the strength of Campbellsville over the last week as they allowed four or fewer runs in four of the five games against Rio Grande and Cumberland. Outside of the seventh inning in the 17-10 win over Rio Grande, it would have been every game allowing four or fewer runs last week.

CU hasn't been prolific on offense over the last week but they have come through when it matters on a number of occasions, especially with two outs. Of the 31 runs scored by the Tigers over the last five games, 21 of them came with two outs in the respective innings.

The Redhawks of Martin Methodist are 25-18 overall on the season and 17-12 at their home field. Most recently, MMC was swept in their three-game conference series against William Carey University, a team that the Tigers took three of four games from early in the season.

Their top hitter is Trevor McKinley who has started all but one of their 43 games with a .373 batting average, 18 doubles, three home runs, and a team-leading 43 RBIs. Campbellsville won't likely see their three pitchers with the most starts but they could see high appearance pitchers in Matt Westberry with a team-best 23 appearances and 1.61 ERA as well as Bylan Barbee (17 appearances), Dakota Green (13 appearnces), and Sam King (10 appearances).

This week for the Tigers will be all away from home with the doubleheader on Tuesday being followed by a three-game Mid-South Conference series against Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky. on Friday and Saturday.
