Lady Tiger softball vs. Georgetown Part Two is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — After splitting a two-game series last week, Campbellsville University and Georgetown College are meeting once again on the softball diamond for another mid-week doubleheader. 
 
The Lady Tigers and Tigers square off on Tuesday, April 16 at 3 p.m. ET in Georgetown, Ky. Both games will air on the CU Sports Network. 
 
Campbellsville enters with a 27-6 record and is 13-3 inside Mid-South Conference play. The Lady Tigers are coming off a 5-1 week where they split with Georgetown and swept Kentucky Christian University. 
 
Georgetown College boasts a 21-17 record and is 8-8 inside the conference. The Tigers won three of four over University of the Cumberlands over the weekend but has lost five of the last nine games. 
 

Previous Matchup:
  • Eight two-out hits scored all eight runs for Georgetown College in game two and the rivals split the doubleheader on Tuesday, April 10.
  • Campbellsville hit three home runs in game one to earn a 5-2 win but lost 8-2 in the finale as Georgetown followed with a pair of two-out three-run long balls by the bottom of the order. 
  • Morgan Gailor was dealing in the opener and wiggled out of a couple jams to earn the win in the circle. Payton Blades and Hannah Judd both hit solo home runs, while Riley Hurst delivered a two-run shot.
  • In game two, Anna Wantz allowed all eight runs in the first three innings and gave way to Karson Williams. Williams sat Georgetown down without allowing a run the rest of the way but the offense couldn't overcome an 8-2 deficit. 
Mid-South Conference Standings:
  • Lindsey Wilson lost its first MSC game last week, a 3-2 defeat to Shawnee State, and fell to 15-1 inside the conference. The Blue Raiders hold at two-game lead in the standings. 
  • Campbellsville is second at 13-3, while University of the Cumberlands is third at 10-8. 
  • Georgetown College is fourth at 8-8, while one game is the difference between Nos. 5-8. 
  • Cumberland University is 6-12, Pikeville and Shawnee State are 5-11 and Kentucky Christian is 4-12. 
Who's your MSC Freshman of the Year nominee?
  • Four freshmen have put themselves on the map this season for the Lady Tigers. Hannah Judd, Riley Hurst, Lexi Miller and Payton Blades are the top four hitters in CU's lineup. 
  • Judd leads CU with a .393 average, has hit six home runs and drove in 17 runs. 
  • Hurst has started in all 33 games, has eight homers and leads CU with 41 RBI. The 41 RBI is currently out of the Top 10 in CU's single-season history. She's 24 RBI behind Amber Shrum's record set in 2007 with 65. 
  • Hurst is currently seven RBI away from second-place in the CU freshman records for single-season RBI. Taylor Borders, step-daughter to pitching coach Kim Borders, set the freshman record in 2013 with 48. Bailey Dillender, a 2012 alum, drove in 62 during her freshman campaign in 2009.
  • Miller is hitting .370 and is second on the team with 37 hits. 
  • Blades has also started in all 33 games, is hitting .368, tied for second on the team with nine home runs and drove in 35 from the leadoff spot in the batting order.
Players of the Week:
  • Freshman Payton Blades had a stellar performance last week to be named the Mid-South Conference and NCCAA National Softball Player of the Week. 
  • Morgan Gailor was named the NCCAA National Softball Pitcher of the Week
  • Blades hit .474 (9-for-19) in six Campbellsville games last week as the Lady Tigers went 5-1. 
  • She hit four home runs with 13 RBI and recorded two doubles. Blades also had four multi-hit games.
  • Against Kentucky Christian in a 13-2 CU win, she had six RBI, including a grand slam, helping the Lady Tigers sweep the Knights.
  • On the season, Blades ranks fourth in the MSC with nine home runs and is currently riding a 15-game hitting streak – the longest for CU this season.
  • Gailor tossed two complete-games and allowed only four earned runs in three starts vs. Georgetown College and Kentucky Christian.
  •  She picked up a 5-2 win over Georgetown while striking out five. 
  •  Against Kentucky Christian on the weekend, Gailor was the benefactor of two run-rule wins, including a one-hitter vs. the Knights on Saturday when she faced the minimum of 15 batters and tossed a complete-game. 
  •  On the year, Gailor ranks seventh in the MSC in ERA (2.39), fifth in strikeouts (86) and first in wins (13).
  •  In the NCCAA, Gailor is first in wins and seventh in strikeouts (83).
