Five Tigers earn Mid-South Conference honors with four All-MSC selections and a Gold Glove

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On the eve of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, the baseball teams in the conference gathered at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky. to celebrate the 2019 season.

The Campbellsville University baseball team had four selections to between the two All Mid-South Conference teams in Anthony Arias, Tyler Deason, Adbiel Morales, and Bryson Wallet along with second baseman Cale Thompson winning the Gold Glove. Arias, Deason and Wallet were all named to the first team with Morales earning a spot on the second team for their accomplishments this season.

Deason, one of the most deserving players in the conference, was selected in a utility spot as he put up both quality hitting and pitching numbers on the season for the Tigers. He placed in the top-10 in both batting average and ERA when the regular season came to a close as his .367 batting average was good for third-best in the conference and his 3.57 ERA was the seventh-best mark in the conference.

Arias had been the leader in strikeouts amongst conference pitchers up until the last series of the year but the senior still finished second with a total of 73 and an 11.26 strikeouts per nine innings average. Arias led CU in starts (11), innings pitched (58.1), and threw one of the team's two complete games on the season on his way to finishing the regular year with a 4.17 ERA.

Wallet was a constant force in the middle of the CU lineup once earning the starting job in right field early on in the year, finishing the regular season with a .338 batting average with 10 doubles, four home runs, and 37 RBIs. Wallet is also only one of two CU players to earn an MSC Player of the Week honor during the season when he was giving the distinction on March 11 for seven hit, five RBI stretch over three games.

Morales earned a utility spot on the second team for quality work as both in left field and behind the plate as a catcher. The Puerto Rico native led Campbellsville in home runs with seven, added nine doubles and two triples and had 13 more walks than strikeouts at the plate with 25 free passes and only 12 strikeouts in 37 games. Unfortunately, Morales suffered an eye injury prior to the final week of the season and his status for the tournament is still up in the air.

Finally, the Gold Glove for Thompson came in 29 starts at the second base position where he only committed one error in 108 chances at the position for a fielding percentage of .991. Thompson recorded 49 putouts and 58 assists while also helping turn half of the CU double plays completed with 16 of the team's 32 total on the season.

The Tigers will move on to the opening round of the MSC Tournament starting for CU tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. CT/3:00 p.m. ET at Bowling Green Ballpark against Georgetown College.
