Dunagan & Ratliff qualify for Bassmaster College Series National Championship for second time in '19

WADDINGTON, N.Y. — The Campbellsville Tiger duo of Bradley Dunagan and Nick Ratliff was at it again in on the lake this week and finished ninth at the Bassmaster College Series Northeast Regional hosted on the St. Lawrence River.

With the finish in the Top 12, Dunagan and Ratliff both qualify for the Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops – which will be hosted in Tennessee on Chickamauga Lake Aug. 1-3.

In addition to Dunagan and Ratliff, Campbellsville University will have two other boats in the field. Grant Adams and Adam Carman will be in the second boat while Dalton Smith and Wil Rigdon are the third boat – both qualified in the Bassmaster Regional Championship on Bull Shoals.

This past week in New York, if the anglers didn't catch over 20 pounds each day, they would be left in the dust. And many were as Sam Houston State University won by 1 pound and 13 ounces over Adrian College. The total weight over three days – 72 pounds and 13 ounces.

Ratliff and Dunagan fared well each day hauling in over 20 pounds each day including a 24-pound 12-ounce bag on Day 1. In Thursday's second round, the duo caught 21-14 and only had 18-12 on Friday.

Four other CU boats were in the field this week as well. Senior Justin Mayfield and freshman Caleb Stephenson finished in 81stwith 37 pounds 6 ounces. Trevor Sagrecy and Jordan Smallwood were right behind by three ounces in 82ndplace.

Fishing his final collegiate tournament, senior Dakota Cantrell teamed up with sophomore Dustin Jones to finish 102ndplace with 34 pounds 10 ounces.

Fellow senior Mason Sapp also competed in his final collegiate tournament with freshman Morgan Miracle and placed 122ndwith 31 pounds even.

The Day 1 cumulative weight of 3,031 pounds 3 ounces was nearly 600 pounds heavier than the previous one-day record of 2,439-1 set at Arkansas' Bull Shoals Lake in April. The 149 boats competing this week combined to catch 5687-4, more than 1,000 pounds better than the previous record of 4,631-10, also at Bull Shoals. There were 50 fewer boats entered in the St. Lawrence event, as well, which underscores the week's bounty.
