Cruz and Ahr lead Tigers to sweep over Culver-Stockton on Saturday night

CANTON, Mo. — Tiger volleyball continued its hot start to the 2020 season and swept Culver-Stockton in straight sets Saturday night 25-18, 25-21, 25-17. 

Playing their third match in as many days, the Tigers have only lost two sets so far this season, including two wins over Top 5 opponents in the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Poll and have started 3-0 on the year.
 
Tonight, the Tigers were led by senior Rafael Cruz's 10 kills along with newcomer Yannik Ahr's seven. Setting up the attempts tonight was a pair of Tigers – Ryan Smith and Jeremy Hernandez. Smith tallied 16 assists while Hernandez was right behind with 15. 

Defensively, it was Joudiel Poveymirow with 19 digs and the Tigers tallied four team blocks overall. The defense was spectacular all night holding the Wildcats to only 21 kills and hitting .062. On the flip side, Campbellsville hit .188 with 40 kills. 


With the impressive win tonight, the Tigers are looking to start the year 4-0 as they travel to Quincy, Illinois on Sunday. First serve against the Hawks is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. Fans can watch live coverage at the links above.
