Rocket League's three wins helps Tigers advance in NRSL competition and League of Legends loses a tight match

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Needing a top-16 finish after last weekend's placement of 21st out of 25, the Campbellsville University Esports Rocket League team came through with three victories out of seven matches to finish 13th out of 35 qualifiers in NRSL competition.

In their seven qualifying matches last weekend, Rocket League earned three wins out of a possible seven with three of their losses coming down to a final third game in the best-of-three game format.

Their wins came in their second, fifth, and seventh matches with two of the wins coming in 2-0 sweeps by game scores of 4-2 and 5-0 in their first win then 3-1 and 6-1 in their final win of the weekend. The second win for Rocket League was highly contested with a 3-1 first game win for CU followed by a 2-1 loss in OT of game two then a 3-1 win to clinch the match in game three.

League of Legends faced off against Case Western Reserve University on Saturday in CSL competition as the Tigers suffered a 2-0 defeat.

The first game we weren't playing how we've been practicing," head coach CJ Moritz said. "In the second game the team was able to put up a great fight With Ashton [Ashton Paiz] stealing dragon and Chana [Chanaphat Boonprasit] getting a triple kill. We were able to give CWRU a run for their money."

Both Rocket League and League of Legends will continue competition next weekend as the Rocket League team will continue into the next stage of NRSL competition next Sunday and League of Legends will continue in the CSL regular season next Saturday.
