The Lady Tigers are coming off of back-to-back wins last week and a 71-67 road victory over Thomas More most recently as those wins helped propel CU back to the No. 2 spot in the NAIA Coaches Top-25 poll for the second time this season.
Campbellsville face a halftime deficit for the fifth time this season but were able to use a 16-10 third quarter to come back and hang on in the fourth to earn their four-point victory.
SERIES FACTS
- Campbellsville and Life have a limited history that has been more recent since the Running Eagles joined the Mid-South Conference in 2016-17.
- The Lady Tigers have won every matchup since that time as every game has had a double-digit margin of victory for CU and head coach Ginger High Colvin.
- There have been three recorded games between Life and Campbellsville prior to the 2016-17 season with the teams meeting once in three-straight seasons from 1999-00 to 2001-02.
- The home team won each of those games with CU earning two home wins, one in 1999 and the other in 2001 with the Running Eagles earning a 74-67 win in Marietta on Feb. 15, 2001 during the 2000-01 season.
- Last season, the Lady Tigers held Life under 60 points in both of CU's victories as the Feb. 9 win was highlighted by Savannah Gregory's triple double where she scored 17 points while adding 10 steals and 10 rebounds.
LAST MEETING - JAN. 6
- Facing a deficit heading into the fourth quarter for the first time this season, the Campbellsville University women's basketball team earned a 74-63 victory against Life University on Jan. 6.
- On a night where the Lady Tigers were outshot 44.4 percent to 34.3 percent by the Running Eagles, CU was able to pull off a 27-15 fourth quarter and finish the game 20-6 to jump ahead and pull away from Life by the final buzzer.
- Sammy Rogers was able to lead all scorers with 18 points to finish her night on only 5-of-14 shooting from the field but going 8-for-11 from the free throw line while grabbing four rebounds.
- Courtney Pritchett and Madison Faulkner joined Rogers in double figures as Faulkner finished with 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting from the field and 6-for-8 from the free throw line.
SCOUTING LIFE
- The Running Eagles head into the week with a 8-11 overall record and a 1-7 first time through MSC.
- LU's only conference win so far has come on Jan. 16 against Georgetown College when the Running Eagles earned about a 75-66 at home.
- In the three games between that and their upcoming matchup with CU, Life lost two conference games in overtime and a two-point game to Voorhees. The overtime games were 102-96 and 94-90 losses to Thomas More in double overtime and Cumberland in overtime respectively.
- Overall, the Running Eagles have dropped 10 of their last 12 games dating back Nov. 30 after they started the season winning five of their first six games in non-conference play.
TIGER CLAWZ
- CU head coach Ginger High Colvin achieved the 20-win total for the 12th-straight time in her 13 seasons leading the charge for the Lady Tigers. The only season she did not lead Campbellsville to a 20-win season was in her first season as head coach when the Lady Tigers won 19 games.
- Campbellsville is the No. 1 assisting team in NAIA Division I with a team total of 418 so far behind starting Hall's 127 assists, good for No. 2 individually in that category.
- Forcing turnovers has been a big part of the CU game plan this season as they force their opponents into 27.1 turnovers per game and rank first in NAIA DI in total steals at 348, steals per game at 15.8, and turnover margin at +11.4 this season.
- The three-point shot has been a big benefit for the Lady Tiger offense as they rank No. 2 in the NAIA in team three-point percentage at 37.9 percent behind one of the best three-point shooters in NAIA DI as Lexy Lake ranks No. 2 in total threes made (71), No. 4 in threes made per game (3.2), and No. 11 in three-point percentage (44.1%).
