Tigers strike early in first half, pitch a shutout to Dallas Baptist in NCCAA Pool Play

Box Score KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Two goals in the first half and another in the second propelled the Campbellsville University men's soccer team to its first win at the NCCAA Championship over Dallas Baptist University.

The Tigers (4-0) will now move on through Pool Play C with one final game against Erskine College on Wednesday evening at Austin-Tindall Soccer Complex.

Tonight, the Tigers took care of business offensively but also defensively shutting out the Pilots – which is crucial to NCCAA Pool Play criteria. Jeremi Campagnolo finished with three saves overall.

Offensively, it was Kalvin Semedo getting the Tigers on the boat in the 14^th minute. Eleder Goicoechea gained possession and make the beautiful pass to Semedo – who finished low past the keeper far post. The goal for Semedo was his second of the shortened season so far.

25 minutes later in the 39^th minute, Sebastiano Musu capitalized on a foul in the box and delivered the PK, his fourth goal of the year, to put the Tigers ahead, 2-0.

The Tigers keep the pedal to the floor in the second half. Sergio Tarrida made an instant impact right when he entered the game and put the game out of reach quickly. Goicoechea played another beautiful pass down the left side of the 18-yard box and Tarrida finished near post for his fourth goal of the year.

Campbellsville controlled possession for most of the night with 13 total shots and five on goal.

The Tigers, who has started the shortened season with a 4-0 record, will have a day off to rest and reenergize before facing Erskine College on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. ET. If the Tigers win, they would be 2-0 inside Pool C and advance to the NCCAA Semifinal rounds. A loss would be determined by Pool Play point differential.
