Tigers score early and late to secure second straight NCCAA Semifinal berth

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — In the 81st minute, it was senior Tom Edge finding the back of the net for what would be the game-winning goal as the Tigers defeated Erskine College, 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Campbellsville (5-0) continued its solid start to the crazy year, and it started early for the Tigers in a physical match from beginning to end. After a Erskine (1-1) foul just outside the 18-yard back, Sebastiano Musu bent a shot near post upper-90 to put the Tigers ahead, 1-0, in just the third minute.

That score would remain the same until Edge's goal in the 81st minute. Musu was a part of that score as well after racing down the right sideline and centering the ball to Edge just in front of the goalkeeper.

Erskine did find the back of the net late as Fernando Gonzalez capitalized on a miscommunication defensively.

The Flying Fleet had multiple opportunities late but it was Jeremi Campagnolo finishing with both of his saves in the final 5 minutes of action.

Overall, there were 30 total fouls called in the physical play including three yellow cards. The Tigers out-shot Erskine 11-6 with five of those on frame for CU.

Campbellsville will now have another day of rest before a rematch of last years NCCAA Semifinal with Grace College. The Tigers and Lancers are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET in Kissimmee, Florida. Fans can tune into the NCCAA Network for live coverage.
