CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – There were plenty of question marks coming into the 2020-21 season for the Campbellsville University women's basketball team but that didn't stop CU from coming out with authority to begin the season with a 109-63 victory over West Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon.
Though none of the questions were fully answered, the Lady Tigers had an impressive showing offensively and defensively scoring their most points against an NAIA opponent since they score 109 against Brescia University on Oct. 26, 2018.
The middle quarters of the game, second and third, really allowed CU to pull away from the Golden Bears as they outscored WVUT 24-7 in the second quarter and 41-19 in the third. Combined between the two quarters the Lady Tigers outscored the Golden Bears 65-26.
Campbellsville had five players in double figures led by the pair of 19-point games from seniors
Sammy Rogers and
Savannah Gregory. The stat lines were almost identical between Rogers and Gregory as they both hit eight shots from the field, two three pointers, and a free throw while combining to add seven rebounds, three steals, and an assist.
Lexy Lake and
Courtney Pritchett also scored in double figures out of the starting lineups as Lake scored 14 while going 4-of-10 from deep and Pritchett scored 11 while adding seven assists, two rebounds, and two steals.
Sophomore point guard
Bailey Pedigo made her first career start on Saturday and impressed making both of her shots from the field for her five points but also dishing out a career-high nine assists to lead all players on either team in helpers.
Murray State transfer forward
Sarah Sutton added double figures off the bench as she dropped 15 points in her first career game as a Lady Tiger as she went 7-for-12 from the field.

Lashaya Carman (4),
Lauren Lee (2), and
Ashlee McGeorge (2), all added some scoring off the bench for Campbellsville as freshmen
Elizabeth Bertram and
Maddie Nalley, also saw the floor for the first time in their career.
Faith Lake was the team leader in rebounds as she pulled down six and dished out five assists while Gore grabbed five rebounds in only six minutes of play in the fourth quarter. Lee also added five helpers in her collegiate debut working as the backup point guard.
Up next for Campbellsville will be their home opener as they will play host to Union College at the Powell Athletic Center on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
