CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – A month away from the gym and the Campbellsville University women's basketball team didn't show any signs of rust in their 94-57 win over Brescia University on Wednesday night.
The Lady Tigers produced a dominant opening 20 minutes of play as they outscored Brescia 59-26, limiting the Bearcats to only 13 points in each of the first two quarters. CU was able to shoot 19-of-34 (55.9%) from the field while going 11-for-19 (57.9%) from the field also creating 22 Brescia turnovers in the half.
The senior tandem of
Sammy Rogers and
Savannah Gregory were strong on both sides of the ball for the Lady Tigers as the combined for 47 points, nine rebounds, nine steals, four assists, and a blocked shot in the game.
Rogers poured in a career-high 24 points on the night as she scored 16 of her 24 in the first half and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the game. Gregory was money from deep as she hit a career-high six three pointers on her way to 23 points in only 18 minutes played.
Lexy Lake was the only other Campbellsville player in double figures as she added 11 points, hitting three shots from three-point range and adding a two-point basket to her night.
Courtney Pritchett and
Bailey Pedigo rounded out the starting lineup and were heavy on the helpers in the game with Pedigo dishing out eight assists while adding four points and Pritchett scored seven points, grabbed five rebounds, had five assists, three steals, and a blocked shot.
There were plenty of minutes played off the bench led by the trio of
Faith Lake,
Madison Sheppard, and
Ashlee McGeorge all were strong on the glass with McGeorge and Sheppard each grabbing a team-high six rebounds with Lake adding four boards.
Freshmen
Madison Drummonds,
Gracie Thompson,
Ashanti Gore,
Elizabeth Bertram, and
Lauren Lee were able to provide quality minutes off the bench. Drummonds led the freshmen with six points in only five minutes as Thompson scored her first career points in her first career appearance adding five points, and Gore scored three points without taking a shot from the field as she added three free throws.
Campbellsville's next game will be another non-conference game at home when they host Bryan College this Saturday at 1 p.m. ET at the Powell Athletic Center.
