LEBANON, Tenn. – The Campbellsville University women's basketball defense came to play Saturday afternoon in their 81-49 win against Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn. at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.
The Lady Tigers limited the Phoenix to only 15 made shots from the field in the entire game as Cumberland finished 15-47 (31.9%) with nine of those 15 made shots coming from beyond the three-point arc.
Campbellsville was slightly more efficient from three-point land as they also hit nine triples but on only 17 shots (52.9%).
Lexy Lake, who scored 29 and hit nine threes herself last time these two teams met, led the Lady Tigers in three-pointers, going 3-for-5 from distance to finish with nine points in 20 minutes.
The leading scorer for the Lady Tigers on Saturday was
Savannah Gregory as she scored 16 points to finish in double figures for the fifth-straight game. Gregory's offensive output has improved after going six of nine games prior to her current streak scoring in double figures.
Gregory has continued to rebound well for Campbellsville as she had a team-high six rebounds.
Ashlee McGeorge also tied the team-high with six rebounds as she added three points as well.
Madison Faulkner was second on the team in scoring and rebounds with 15 points and five boards for her 23
rd game in double figures out of 24 team games for the Lady Tigers.
Bench output was strong again for the Lady Tigers as
Sammy Rogers scored 11 points as the only other Campbellsville player in double figures.
Faith Lake scored eight points,
Shyla Calbert and
Cristin Hall added three points as Calbert also added a team-high five assists while also grabbing four rebounds.
It was another solid all-around game from
Courtney Pritchett as she dropped six points, four assists, four rebounds, three steals, and a blocked shot. Pritchett was a group of four players to record three steals in the game as
Lexy Lake, Gregory, and Faulkner also had three takeaways.
The Lady Tigers recorded 17 total steals in the game and forced 27 Cumberland turnovers that led to 36 of Campbellsville's 81 points. Campbellsville outrebounded Cumberland 40-33 as both teams grabbed 24 defensive rebounds but the Lady Tigers were solid on the offensive glass grabbing 16 offensive rebounds that led to 12 second chance points.
Campbellsville will stay on the road next week when they face the team that handed them their only defeat of the season, Shawnee State, next Thursday in Portsmouth, Ohio.
