No. 1 Campbellsville picks up another straight-set win behind season bests from Ramon Matos

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Saturday morning, the Tigers returned to the Gosser Gym after a full week off from action to take their seventh consecutive straight set win over Lincoln College.

No. 1 Campbellsville (19-2) entered the match in the midst of hot play, not dropping a set since Feb. 8. This continued as the Lynx (2-15) surrendered three sets 25-10, 25-16, 25-18 for CU to continue their strand of straight set wins.

On the afternoon, the Tigers were led by the Lincoln College transfer, Ramon Matos as he recorded 11 of the team's 38 total kills. Doing his work efficiently, Matos did not record an attacking error, while hitting for .786 on the day.

Matos was all over his former team, as he also led the Tigers with six aces and assisted in four blocks.

Matos' six aces mark a career high mark for the junior, while his 11 kills is his top mark since the season opening five set match against Missouri Baptist.

Yannik Ahr and Rafael Cruz followed Matos with six kills apiece. As the pair only played in the first two sets of the match, the duo recorded just one error each, as Cruz hit for 6-8 and Ahr followed on 13 attempts.

As a whole, Campbellsville picked up 10 service aces in the win for the fifth time this season. This match, however, does mark the first time the Tigers have record a double-digit service aces number with their service errors being limited to under 10.

Campbellsville hit for 38-71 on the morning with 12 errors for an attacking percentage of .366.

The Tiger defense, on the other hand, limited the Lynx to a hitting percentage of .138 after allowing just 22 kills.

Joudiel Poveymirow played in the libero role for the first two sets led Campbellsville with seven digs. Ahr, Jeremy Hernandez, and Christopher Fermaintt followed with four each.

The Tigers will return to Gosser on Tuesday, March 3 for another Mid-South Conference match, as they play host to Cumberland University at 7 p.m. ET.
