ATLANTA, Ga. – Lady Tiger Basketball's
Ginger High Colvin has been named as a finalist to the 2020 United States Marine Corps/WBCA NAIA National Coach of the Year, as released by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Colvin, in her 13
th season at the helm for LTB, led Campbellsville to a 29-3 overall and 14-2 Mid-South Conference record on their way to being named the MSC Regular Season Champions and earning a No. 1-seed in the NAIA National Tournament.
Ranking as the NAIA's No. 1 team for much of the season, and never falling outside of the top four in the NAIA rankings, CU was able to put together a dominant season, outscoring opponents by an average of 22.8 points per game, ranking third in the NAIA.
Colvin helped develop the Lady Tigers on both sides of the basketball, as their intense defense pressure allowed them to lead the NAIA in steals per game (16.2) and rank second in turnover margin (11.18). Offensively, CU averaged 84.81 points per game behind 45.7% shooting from the field and 37.7% from range, each of which rank in the NAIA's top 5.
Along with the team achievements, Coach Colvin developed one WBCA NAIA All-American, one WBCA NAIA All-American honorable mention, the MSC Defensive Player of the Year, four MSC All-Conference honorees, 11 MSC Academic All-Conference members, and four MSC Players of the Week.
In her tenure, Coach Colvin has coached CU to an overall 364-85 record for an impressive .810 winning percentage, ranking ninth for most wins among active NAIA coaches.
Bo Overton, head coach of Oklahoma City, was named the WBCA NAIA National Coach of the Year after a 30-2 season.
