No. 13 Lady Tigers set to play four games in the Gulf Coast Invitational

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Lady Tiger softball has four games remaining on its 11-day road trip through Georgie and Alabama and it starts on Friday morning at the Gulf Coast Invitational. 
 
No. 13 Campbellsville plays No. 20 Morningside College at 10 a.m. ET and Faulkner University at 12:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Then on Saturday, the final two games will feature Blue Mountain College at 5:30 p.m. ET and Martin Methodist at 8 p.m. ET. 
 

CU Sports Network:
  • All four games of the doubleheader will air on the Campbellsville University Sports Network as Jordan Alves will call the action. 
  • Fans can tune in 15 minutes before each game to hear coach Shannon Wathen's pregame thoughts on www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch and also on Apple TV and the ROKU Streaming Apps by searching Campbellsville Sports Network.
Tiger Clawz:
  • CU, which enters with an 8-7 record, remained at No. 13 in the NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll after it was released on Wednesday. 
  • The Lady Tigers enter with a three-game losing streak after falling to Coastal Georgia on Sunday and Judson in two games on Tuesday. The ratings were submitted before CU's two loses against Judson. 
  • Lexi Miller was named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team. She was 7-of-17 at the plate with a home run, double and four RBI in the five games last weekend.
  • Miller is tied with Payton Blades for the team-high in multi-hit and multi-RBI games with six and five, respectively. 
  • Blades was on a 10-game hitting streak before going 0-for-2 with a walk in the final game against Judson on Tuesday. She continues her on-base streak with 11-straight games. 
  • Tori Humphrey holds the longest current hit streak with four, while Miller and Ryley Whitney are both on a two-game streak.
  • Morningside enters ranked No. 20 and will be the seventh team the Lady Tigers will play in the Top 25 for the latest poll. 
  • Last season at the Sportsplex and Gulf Coast Invitational, Campbellsville went 3-2 overall – winning over Houston-Victoria, Culver-Stockton and Ave Maria.
  • The Lady Tigers also played at the Sportsplex for the NAIA Opening Round where it went 2-2 overall but reaching the championship series against the host Mobile.
  • The 8-7 record is the worst start since the 2011 year (3-12). After starting 8-18 that season, the Lady Tigers finished winning 26 of their final 35 games.
Deeper look at Morningside:
  • The Mustangs improved two spots to No. 20 in the first regular season ratings after starting the year with a 10-2 record. 
  • Morningside enters after losing two of three games, both to Benedictine, 4-3 and 6-4. 
  • The Mustangs are led by Carson Cameron's .512 batting average, two home runs, 10 RBI and five stolen bases. She is one of five players to start in all 12 games entering the Gulf Coast Invite. 
  • In the circle, Morningside has three pitchers with over 19 innings and sub-three ERAs.
  • Katherine Wurtz has a 3-1 record and 1.75 ERA through 28 innings. 
  • Hallie Misiaszek has five starts with a 3-1 record and 2.63 ERA through 32 innings.
  • Alex Nelson has three starts with a 1.84 ERA and 4-0 record through 19 innings.
  • Morningside will play Bethel, Lyon, LSU Alexandria, Culver-Stockton, and Martin Methodist at the GCI.  
Deeper look at Faulkner:
  • The Eagles enter with a 1-5 record – their lone win came in a walk-off against Martin Methodist, 3-2, in extra innings. 
  • Faulkner has been outscored, 29-19. 
  • In the circle, the Eagles have allowed 27 walks compared to 23 strikeouts.  Opponents are hitting .281 overall. 
  • Faulkner plays LSU Alexandria, Culver-Stockton, Ave Maria, Central Methodist, and Grace College at the GCI.
Deeper look at Blue Mountain:
  • The Toppers enter with a 9-3 overall record and are 3-1 in the Southern States Athletic Conference. 
  • A few common opponents have been Brescia University and Lindsey Wilson so far this year. The Toppers beat Brescia, 11-10, and split with Lindsey Wilson with an 18-5 loss and 5-4 win. 
  • Leah Jackson leads the way with a .522 average through nine games and eight starts. Katie Rutledge is right behind at .511 and has started in all 12 games entering the weekend. 
  • Blue Mountain has outscored opponents, 85-53. 
  • In the circle, Emaree Stone is the lone pitcher with a sub-four ERA. She's boasting a 3-0 record and 1.31 ERA through 16 innings. 
  • The Toppers play Grace College, Columbia College, and Lyon at the GCI. 
Deeper look at Martin Methodist:
  • An 8-4 record overall, the RedHawks defeated Campbellsville 8-7 in the finale of the Reinhardt Invitational. 
  • Martin Methodist has won five of the last six games entering the weekend – the lone loss a 3-2 walk off defeat in extra innings to Faulkner. 
  • The RedHawks are led by Shayla Youngblood's .477 average and four stolen bases from the two-hole in the batting order. 
  • Raegan Hannah is hitting .441 with a team-high four home runs and 12 RBI. 
  • In the circle, Maddie Locke has a 5-1 record with a 3.17 ERA through 42 innings. 
  • Martin Methodist plays Grace College, Columbia College and Morningside College in the GCI.
