CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – It was an offensive explosion at Finley Stadium on Saturday night as the Campbellsville men's soccer team earned their second shutout win of the season with a 7-0 victory over Brescia University.
The Tigers scored four goals in the first half and three in the second half as five of their seven goals were scored by the combination of
Sebastiano Musu and
Sergio Tarrida as Musu netted a hat trick and Tarrida added two of his own.
Musu scored twice in the first half as he got the opening goal eight minutes into the game on a cross from
Kalvin Semedo after Semedo created some space in the right corner to cross it in. His second and third goals both came off of corner kicks as he was assisted by
Eleder Goicoechea and
Connor Grant in the 17
th minute on his second goal then finished off a header from
Pedro Ramos for his hat trick in the 63
rd minute.
Tarrida scored one goal in each half as he netted a goal in the 36
th minute off of a cross from
Lorenzo Jiminez then made a nice individual effort to have a tap-in goal in the 86
th minute. The other two goals for CU in the game had Semedo involved as he assisted on
Gustav Oskarsson's 13
th minute goal then Semedo scored one of his own in the 57
th minute after a nice run down the right side got him free.
Campbellsville's possession and back line helped the Tiger keepers face a minimal amount of shots as both
Jeremi Campagnolo and
Edoardo Forastieri played a half apiece to only face four total shots from the Bearcats, with Forastieri making the only saves necessary with two in the second half.
Men's soccer will have a bit of a layoff from official competition as they will play two scrimmages against Mid-South Conference opponents before continuing non-conference regular season play against Midway University on Wednesday, Oct. 21 on the road.
