Tigers sweep Carolina University to open NCCAA Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Entering the NCCAA Invitational as the returning champions, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team made quick work of the hosts Carolina University as they earned a 3-0 sweep win.
 
The Tigers earned set wins of 25-13, 25-11, and 25-17 to open their tournament in the win column as CU outdid the Bruins in every major team statistical category. The big advantage for Campbellsville came on the serve as the Tigers had 20 total aces in the match compared to just three for Carolina.
 
Jose Viera Cerame shined in the match as the Bayamon, Puerto Rico natice finished with a match-high 10 kills on a team-high 18 attempts while adding six of the 20 aces and six digs. Senior Jeremy Hernandez led the team with seven aces while setting his way to a 29-assist performance.
 
Head coach Eric Snyder used a lot of his depth in the match as Christopher Fermaintt, Mason McKinney, Damien Cole, and Andres Laboy all saw their first action of the season on Friday.
 
Fermaintt worked as the team's libero in the match and finished with a match-high tying seven digs and adding two assists. McKinney finished with six kills and two block assists, Cole added four kills, three aces, and three digs, and Laboy finished with seven digs as well while adding three kills.
 
Senior Max Stotridge finished second on the team with nine kills on just 12 attacks with no errors for a .750 hitting percentage while adding an ace, a block assist, and two digs. Isaac Paches contributed in a just a single set in the match and went 3-for-5 on kills with an error and two of the team's 20 aces.
 
It will be an earlier start for the Tigers Saturday morning when they take on Lancaster Bible College at 11:30 a.m. ET as a win will take CU to the championship match at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
