MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The struggles continue for the Campbellsville University men's basketball team as they dropped their seventh-straight game in an 89-79 final score on the road against Bethel University.
The Tigers only led by a single point on four different occasions with three of those one-point leads coming within the first two minutes of the game and the other at the 17:11 mark in the second half. The Wildcats largest lead in the first half was only seven but they doubled that in the second half to lead by 14 on multiple occasions, the latest was a 74-60 score with 6:12 remaining in the game.
That 14-point deficit didn't stop CU from fighting back as they were able to bring the game within four points twice including an 80-76 margin with 1:40 left. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they were outscored 9-3 to finish out the game for Bethel to close out their 10-point win.
Both teams had four players in double figures, but it was the combined performances of Chandler Clements and Jon Brown from the Wildcats that carried BU over the hump. Clements finished with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field as he added seven rebounds and Brown finished with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Kamron Rose finished with a double-double as he had 10 points and 10 rebounds with those rebounds being perfectly split 5-to-5 on the offensive and defensive ends. Myron McKinney added 11 points off the bench as Jarred Walker added nine points and eight rebounds in his 28 minutes.
For the Tigers,
Taiveyhon Mason finished right around his season average with 21 points as he added three rebounds, two assists, and two steals but turned it over five times.
Brayden Sebastian added 17 points off the bench as he played 24 minutes while adding five rebounds and shooting 7-for-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from long range.
Max Reyes (13) and
Ross Ryan (11) added double figures in the starting lineup as Ryan grabbed a team-high and season-high tying eight rebounds.
The Tigers will return home for a pair of games in the Powell Athletic Center next Thursday and Saturday when they host Pikeville and Cumberlands.
