Lady Tiger wrestling to begin 2021 with senior night and lone home dual against No. 16 Indiana Tech

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Hitting the mat for the first time for official competition since Feb. 22, 2020, the Campbellsville University women's wrestling team will host their only home event of the season when they welcome Indiana Tech to town for a dual at 5 p.m. ET at the Wrestling Gym.

The night will open with a handful of JV matches prior to the team's Senior Night festivities beginning at about 5:30 p.m. followed by the official varsity dual competition.

The Lady Tigers enter the dual at No. 2 in the NAIA rankings after the lone 2020-21 season poll was released Nov. 19 with Indiana Tech sitting at No. 16 in the poll as well.

CU will also recognize four seniors prior to the start of the dual as McKayla Campbell, Katlyn Pizzo, Alexia Foca, and Courtney West will all take part in Senior Day festivities.

Native of Wauseon, Ohio, Campbell is 3-time National Runner-up, 4-time All-American and 3-time Academic All-American. Once she graduates, she is planning on getting her masters, pursuing teaching with a goal of becoming a wrestling coach one day as well.

Native of Madison Heights, Mich., Pizzo was a part of two national championship team titles. She took 2nd at WCWA and won Mid-South Conference Championship in 2020. Katlyn would like to continue her wrestling career after she is done with her undergraduate degree.

Native of Hackensack, N.J., Foca placed 3rd at Nationals her freshman year, was a part of the two National Championship Team in 2018 & 2020, and has been an excellent student. When she is done with school she would like to continue contributing to the sport by coaching and she is planning on pursuing her career in psychology as well.

Native of Pekin, Ind., West was a part of the two national championship teams. Her favorite memory of her wrestling years is being able to see the team conquer 2018 nationals and seeing the love and support the girls on the team always have for each other. Courtney would like to become a veterinarian and own her clinic one day.

The Warriors have competed in a handful of competitions including two opens and three duals as they finished second as a team in each open and dropped all three of their duals. In their duals losses, they dropped a tight 25-23 defeat to University of the Cumberlands and suffered a 39-5 loss to Life University both on Nov. 22 while falling again in a rematch with Life 36-9.

Campbellsville will lean on the experience of Charlotte Fowler, Gabrielle Garcia, Campbell, Foca, and Pizzo, who are all ranked in their weight class as seniors or graduate eligible for this season. Beyond the upperclassmen, the Lady Tigers have an extremely deep roster to lean on throughout the various weight classes.

Following this dual, Campbellsville will have three road duals remaining in their regular season as they will face off with Brewton-Parker and Life on Jan. 15 and end their regular season matchups on Jan. 29 against Cumberlands.
