McKENZIE, Tenn. – The Campbellsville University men's soccer team saw a combined 27 fouls and six yellow cards in a 3-2 loss at Bethel University.

Bethel University got the scoring started in the 7th minute of play. Sergio Baguena made the Tigers pay after gaining possession right outside of the CU box. Campbellsville would pad the shot category, but the Wildcats' keeper stood strong.

In the 32nd minute, Campbellsville was awarded a penalty kick and they made the most of it. Eleder Goicoechea would smash home his third goal of the season. The Tigers had found success and only four minutes later, Campbellsville would build up another attack. This time, it was Tom Edge finding Sergio Tarrida for the goal.

Each team created scoring chances in the closing minutes making it a very interesting close to the period. CU would hold on and take a 2-1 lead into half.

The second half started out in the favor of the opposition. Jeremi Campagnolo saved three shots within the first seven minutes of the period. Bethel would level the match at two scores a piece in the 78th. These two teams would continue to claw at each other for the remainder of the frame needing overtime for a decision.

Once again off to a fast start, Bethel University was set up with a free kick right outside of the 18 yard line. In the 95th minute, Nicolas Ruiz would bend a free kick around the wall and in the net for the golden goal winner.

This is the first loss of the season for the Tigers. They move to 9-1-1, sitting at 4-1-2 in Mid-South Conference play.
