Physically fought match ends in a shutout for the Tigers over the Lions

HENDERSON, Tenn. – The #23 Campbellsville University men's soccer team rebound from a heartbreaking overtime loss earlier in the week to defeat the Freed-Hardeman Lions 4-0.

The first half was atypical from the Tigers in that it was low scoring. The only goal came in the 16th minute when Sebastiano Musu lasered a ball into the net. Despite the relative stalemate, Campbellsville recorded five shots (with three on-goal) while holding the Lions to just one shot, which Tiger keeper Jeremi Campagnolo saved. It was a physical first half and would foreshadow the physicality of the rest of the match as well.

In the second half, successful offensive action picked up but only for Campbellsville. Eleder Goicoechea found paydirt off an assist from Pedro Ramos in the 49th minute. Less than 10 minutes later, Goicoechea connected again and this time from a pass by Gustav Oskarsson. Oskarsson would turn around and kick a goal himself in the 74th minute which proved to be the final score of the match.

The Campbellsville men's soccer team ended the contest with six more shots-on-goal compared to Freed-Hardeman. Campagnolo would leave the pitch with three saves.

The Tigers will be back home at Finley Stadium for their next match against the (RV) Cumberland University Phoenix. That match will take place following the women's contest with kickoff set for around 8 p.m. ET.
