Lady Tigers swing their way to a "Dig Pink" sweep

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University Women's Volleyball team capped off their second straight sweep in Gosser Gymnasium this week at their "Dig Pink" game in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Campbellsville carried momentum over from their 3-0 sweep the night prior against UPike and came out firing. The Lady Tigers would hit .343 on the set with 15 assists leading to 16 kills. Campbellsville took the set 25-11. Alina Zellin and Sonia Flendrich led with four kills each.

Set two was a different scene. Both Asbury and CU would trade runs until Campbellsville had a 15-14 advantage. The Lady Tigers closed out the frame on a 11-3 run. Hannah McGill and Cierra Merrick would combine for 12 of the 18 team kills finishing with seven and five, respectively.

The third frame looked very similar to the second. Asbury opened on a 4-2 run before Campbellsville answered with a 14-2 stint of their own. The Eagles had a late push before CU finished the sweep with a 25-17 set victory.

McGill led the club with 10 kills, joined by seven different Lady Tigers finding the kill column. Paige Merrick added another double-double to her season racking up 31 assists and 11 digs. Salma Gonzalez-Sosa dug up 17 Eagle attacks to lead Campbellsville.

CU as a team led all of the major stat categories with 44 kills, a .218 hitting percentage, 43 assists, 10 service aces, 65 digs, and six blocks.
