CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers displayed resilience in their fight against Shawnee State resulting in a 3-2 final score. Campbellsville hosted the Bears at Gosser Gymnasium for senior day as we recognize
Paige Merrick,
Stela Velinova,
Sonia Flendrich,
Sutton Mason, and
Salma Gonzalez-Sosa.
Although the Tigers showed their skills defensively, Campbellsville took the fall in their first match against the Bears resulting with a score of 22-25. The Lady Tigers were tested in the next set too but were able to triumph as they finished with a winning score of 26-24.
Campbellsville took control into the third set with a score of 25-16. The Lady Tigers went on a 9-0 scoring run to set the tone. Unfortunately, the Tigers lost the fourth set due to the Bears taking advantage of Campbellsville's handful of errors.
The Tigers prevented a close out in the final set staying resolute and maintaining a small cushion. The nail-biting fifth set ended with a score of 17-14 and a win for the Lady Tigers.
Campbellsville concluded the night with a total of 133 digs, 42 of which came from Gonzalez-Sosa making this her season-high. Other defensive leaders include
Molly Shannon with 22 digs and
Katie Morin with 20.
Merrick displayed an impressive number of assists with 50. This is Merrick's second time breaking 50 assists against Shawnee State this season.
The Lady Tigers go into their next match with a record of 19-6. They look to increase their conference record as they travel to Georgetown to face off against the opposing Tigers. The match will take place on Tuesday, October 26
th at 6 p.m. ET.
