CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University Fighting Tigers faltered on Saturday night against the #21 University of the Cumberlands Patriots, 52-27.

Receiving the opening kickoff, Campbellsville's first drive was stalled after just three plays. However, on the Patriots' opening possession,
Anton Fant was able to punch the ball free from the Cumberlands' rusher's hands and
Jacoby Miguel jumped on top to take the ball. Beginning their drive near midfield, the Tigers were able to march to the five-yard line but would have to settle for a field goal. The Tigers led after the first quarter 3-0 behind Fant's two interceptions.

In the first play of the second quarter, Cumberlands returned Fant's favor by intercepting Josh Meglis on a pass intended for
Michael Walker. That turnover resulted in the Patriots' first scoring drive of the night when Javarie White rushed into the endzone. The Tigers' subsequent drive was a three-and-out. Yet another interception would be recorded by the Campbellsville defense when
Savyon Benton snagged a ball at their own 38-yard line. After a couple of penalties on Cumberlands, the Tigers reached the endzone on a D'Anta Sipp 14-yard rush. The Patriots were quick to answer with their equalizer: a 41-yard field goal. After an unsuccessful Tiger drive, Cumberlands were able to score a touchdown before the end of the half. With a chance to add to their total before the horn, Meglis threw another interception, and the Tigers went into halftime down 17-10.

At the half, the Tigers had 40 total plays compared to the Patriots' 43. Campbellsville held on to the ball longer with 16 minutes of possession compared to nearly 14 for the other team. The big difference was total yards: just 142 for Campbellsville to Cumberlands' 338.

The Patriots outscored the Tigers 35-17 in the second half. A huge 53-yard rush for Cumberlands highlighted their first drive of the third quarter. Campbellsville responded with a 13-play, 60-yard trek of their own that netted them a field goal. However, the Patriots would then score 21 unanswered points stretching into the fourth quarter and raise the lead to 45-13. During that span though, Fant snagged his third interception on the night.

The Fighting Tigers' rushing attack then made its mark rattling off chunks of yards at a time until they reached the redzone where Meglis found
Michael Walker for a 10-yard score. However, the very next Patriots possession saw another touchdown of their own. The Tigers would log one more score (a big 59-yard touchdown run for Sipp) before the game concluded.

Sipp had his biggest game as a Tiger with 201 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Fant had four tackles, three interceptions, and a forced fumble for a monster individual game. As a result, the Patriots ended the game with five turnovers compared to only two for the Tigers. That discrepancy was counterbalanced however by Cumberlands notching exactly 700 yards of offense while Campbellsville had just over half of that with 363.

The Fighting Tigers will be back home for their next face-off against the #8 Tigers of Georgetown College on October 30
th at 1:30 p.m. ET. That game will be the last home contest of the Fighting Tigers' season.
