BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Campbellsville University men's bowling team opened their regular season in the Mid-South Conference's Bowling Green Baker Shootout this past weekend at Southern Lanes recording an eighth-place finish of 17 teams present.
The Tigers bowling team came out scorching in the first frame with a 236-point performance. That would be their highest scoring frame of the event, but the Tigers would also score north of 200 in the 12
th, 14
th, and 18
th frames. Campbellsville finished the first day of the shootout in ninth with 3,616 points.
The Campbellsville bowling team would post fewer points the second day, but their 3,598-point Sunday was enough to climb to eighth overall. The University of Tennessee Southern finished with 7,765 pins to best the second-place Bethel University (Tenn.) by 27 pins.
The tournament was made of 40 baker games with the initial 20 taking place on Saturday and the final 20 bowled on Sunday. The shootout was the first of five scheduled regular-season tournaments this season.
Campbellsville will have three weeks until they see their next competition. The Tigers will travel to Kingpin Lanes in Louisville, Ky. for the Lynne Jordan/Tomas N. Burris Memorial Tournament.
