DANVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University women's swim team traveled just over an hour north to Danville on Friday for a meet against the Centre College Colonels where they fell 194-51.
The first event for the women was the 200-yard medley relay where the team of
Lizandri Crewe-Brown,
Leah Zimmerman,
Maggie Gibson, and
Hannah Rhodenbaugh finished a split-second behind Centre's second-place team with a time of 2:00.84. The next competition was the 200-yard freestyle where the Lady Tigers' best finisher,
Hannah Doyle, took fourth place with a time of 2:16.73.
Following that was the 200-yard individual medley where
Anna Lewis posted a fourth-place time of 2:55.21. The 50-yard freestyle was next and
Shakira Hudson (30.01 for fourth) barely edged teammate
Lucy Ballard (30.04 for fifth). The 100-yard butterfly saw Gibson come in third on a 1:07.45 time and, in the 100-yard freestyle,
Morgan Thomas took third with 1:01.78 on the clock.
Lewis (6:38.74) and
Clarice Ritter (7:12.10) finished third and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle. After that, the 200-yard freestyle relay ensued where Crewe-Brown, Zimmerman, Thomas, and
Isabel Taylor came in fourth (1:52.81) while teammates Gibson, Hudson, Ballard, and Lewis finished fifth (2:01.27).
Crewe-Brown swam a 1:04.87 in the 100-yard backstroke for second place while Rhodenbaugh had a time of 1:06.90 for fourth. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Zimmerman led the way for the Lady Tigers with a time of 1:17.96 for fourth place. For their final competition in the 400-yard freestyle relay, Campbellsville women's swimming finished fourth behind Rhodenbaugh, Thomas, Gibson, and Crewe-Brown's time of 4:06.54.
"This was a great meet so early in the season and with a quick turnaround from Fall Frenzy, we are really focusing on racing tired now and perfecting technique and race strategies," head coach
Casey Bradstreet said. "We even had some surprise time improvement! I am very pleased with all their efforts and look forward to this Friday for our first home meet!"
The Lady Tigers will swim next at home when they host Bethel University (Tenn.) on October 8
th at 5:30 p.m. ET during Homecoming.
