SEWANEE, TN – Lady Tigers were able to push ten top five finishes over the weekend at the Sewanee Igloo Invitational.
The 200-yard freestyle relay got the meet started off with their 4
th place finish.
Lizandri Crewe-Brown,
Morgan Thomas,
Hannah Rhodenbaugh, and Sarah Worthman were able to swim four seconds faster than their seed time at 1:46.35.
Rhodenbaugh came back in the 200-yard backstroke to earn the bronze medal in the event with a time of 2:14.21 earning an NAIA Provisional Cut. Rhodenbaugh was also able to pick up another third place finish in the 1650 freestyle in 20:03.57.
Anna Lewis and
Clarice Ritter joined Rhodenbaugh in clutch scoring in the 1650 free. Lewis finished the event in sixth place with a time of 21:59.63 while Ritter was seventh in 24:21.60.
Crewe-Brown was able to join Rhodenbaugh in the top five for the 200-yard backstroke placing fifth overall in the event with a time of 2:16.57.
In the 400-yard medley relay the team was able to place fourth overall in the relay. Crewe-Brown, Rhodenbaugh, Worthman, and
Maggie Gibson swam the event in 4:22.35. Crewe-Brown, Rhodenbaugh, Worthman, and
Hannah Doyle were also able to earn a top four finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:29.59.
In the 200-yard medley relay narrowly missed a qualifying mark with a time of 1:56.11. Crewe-Brown, Doyle, Gibson, and Worthman placed third in the event.
In the 100-yard backstroke Crewe-Brown was able to swim almost one second faster than her preliminary time. In the prelims she qualified for finals with a time of 1:01.32 while in the finals she was able to dip down to a time 1:00.59.
Maggie Gibson picked up a clutch top five finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Gibson placed fifth in the event with an NAIA Provisional Cut time of 1:01.56.
In the final event of the meet was the 400-yard freestyle relay. Lady Tigers were able to earn a fourth place finish in the event. Crewe-Brown, Rhodenbaugh, Worthman, and Doyle were able to finish off the meet for the team in a time of 3:50.89.
Campbellsville placed third overall in the final standings with 454 points while Sewanee won the meet with a total of 1098 points.
Lady Tigers will return to action on Thursday December 16
th when the team travels to Shawnee State University. That meet will begin at 5 p.m.
