KISSIMMEE, FLA. – Tigers made a huge opening statement in their first match of pool play in the NCCAA Tournament with a 3-0 win over Carolina University.
From the first whistle, Campbellsville controlled the tempo of the match.
Sebastiano Musu was able to score the game winner early in the first half. Musu got in the open field a in two on one situation when he was able to find the back of the net in the 11
th minute of play.
Late in the first half, a foul in the box brought
Tom Edge to the penalty spot. Edge was able to find the bottom corner of the net to press the lead to 2-0 going into the halftime whistle.
The second half was similar to the first half of play with Campbellsville controlling possession over Carolina.
Antonio Quinta was the hero of the second half with his goal coming late in the match. Quinta found the back of the net after a ball from Edge.
"They played very well today," said Coach
Adam Preston. "We worked hard and we gave ourselves to the game."
The Tigers were all over Carolina with a shot lead of 31-10 while 18 of the Tigers 31 shots were on frame. Campbellsville was also able to have a 6-3.
Jeremi Campagnolo and his defense kept the net clean with Campagnolo grabbing four saves on the afternoon.
Campbellsville will have a day off before returning to the pitch on Wednesday for another 3:30 p.m. matchup against Southwestern Christian University.
