Lady Tiger Basketball dominates in home opener

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University women's basketball faced off against Bryant & Stratton College (N.Y.) at Powell Athletic Center Monday evening. The Lady Tigers left triumphant in their trek to remain undefeated in a score of 105-50 against the Bobcats. 
 
Campbellsville went into the game with a five-game win streak attributing to their perfect record thus far. The starters for the match-up included Lexy Lake, Faith Lake, Lauren Lee, Ashlee McGeroge, and Bailey Pedigo.
 
To begin the first quarter, McGeorge won the tip for the Lady Tigers. Campbellsville worked every spot on the court for an open basket and zipped the ball around the three-point arc. McGeorge was able to put up two under the basket. The Lady Tiger's pressure defense caused B&SC to produce many turnovers. Pedigo aided her teams scoring as she went on a seven-point run herself. Kaitlynn Wilks came off the bench and put up numbers and defensive rebounds for the Lady Tigers. Campbellsville finished the quarter 30-11 over the Bobcats.
 
Campbellsville continued their pressure defense throughout the remainder of the second quarter. B&SC had a total of nine turnovers in the opening half. The Lady Tigers were resilient in their press to take the ball away. The second quarter was similar to the first as the Lady Tigers continued their fast breaks and defensive pressure. The Bobcats were forced into eight more turnovers within this quarter, totaling 17. Campbellsville displayed their strength in the paint as they ended the quarter with 30 points in that area alone. The Lady Tigers earned six steals in the second quarter which aided in Campbellsville scoring against the Bobcats. The Lady Tigers ended the half 47-21.  Campbellsville's points in the paint tripled that of B&SC. The Lady Tigers were able to earn ten fast point breaks versus the Bobcat's zero.
 
The intensity did not stop going into the third quarter. Faith Lake went on a nine-point run buoyed by three consecutive layups. Campbellsville continued to move the ball around the court. Wilks remained an asset to the Lady Tigers as she was able to draw fouls from the Bobcats and shoot free throws. The third quarter ended in a score of 74-33 over the Bobcats. 
 
The fourth quarter was no different for the Lady Tigers. Campbellsville never lost intensity regardless of their lead. Lexy Lake started the quarter off strong as she went back-to-back with a layup and a three-pointer. The Lady Tigers produced their highest scoring quarter of the game with 31 points. 
 
Game leaders included McGeorge with 19 points, Wilks with 17 points, and Sarah Sutton with 11 points. Wilks was strong with the ball tonight as she earned ten rebounds out of the 37 the Lady Tigers accumulated. 
 
Campbellsville will reappear at Powell Athletic Center Thursday night for a Mid-South match-up. The Lady Tigers will compete against Freed-Hardeman University a 6 p.m. ET.
