Lady Tiger Basketball begins 2021 campaign with convincing victory over Brescia

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The #3 Campbellsville University women's basketball opened their season win a statement win against the Brescia University Bearcats in the Chamber Classic hosted by Bethel University: 104-37.
 
The starters for the season opener were Bailey Pedigo, Ashlee McGeorge, Faith Lake, Courtney Pritchett, and Lexy Lake. The entire starting five came out and played stingy defense recording a combined ten steals through the contest with Faith Lake leading the way with five. The Lady Tigers never trailed in the game and outscored the Bearcats by double digits in each quarter. Lexy Lake was dishing dimes tallying a team-leading six assists to go along with nine points.
 
Lady Tiger Basketball put their foot on the pedal and never looked back, asserting their defensive dominance from the jump. For the game, they recorded 28 points off turnovers and were careful with the rock themselves only turning the ball over seven times for two Bearcat fast break points. Campbellsville's defense allowed a field goal percentage of 30.4% while netting over half of their attempts with 54.7%. Although they didn't take an abundant amount, the Lady Tigers hit 70% of their threes (7-10) to boot while holding the Bearcats to just 17.6% (3-17).
 
Campbellsville conducted most of their offense through their paint play and attacking the basket. 60 of their points were in the key while Brescia had only 14. Five CU scorers reached double figures: Pedigo (15), McGeorge (15), Faith Lake (11), Pritchett (10), and, from the bench, Elizabeth Bertram (10). The Lady Tigers' bench had 44 points compared to the Bearcats' 22.
 
The Lady Tigers will hit the court at Bethel University again Saturday at noon when they finish their time at the Chamber Classic against John Brown University.
