MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The third-ranked Lady Tigers won today's Chamber Classic closer against John Brown University: 82-60.
The Lady Tigers started the game off strong with an 11-0 scoring run. Their offense stayed strong throughout the rest of the first quarter, outscoring the Golden Eagles 22-12.
In the second quarter, JBU found a spark in their perimeter shooting and made multiple three-pointers allowing them to cut down Campbellsville's lead to eight points. The Lady Tigers lost their offensive flow allowing the Golden Eagles to tighten their point deficit. CU goes into halftime with a 12-point lead.
At the half,
Courtney Pritchett led the team with ten points. The Lady Tigers shot 16 of 28 in field goals, five of 12 in three pointers, and made four of six free throws at the stripe. The Golden Eagles scored seven points off the Lady Tiger's seven turnovers and CU scored 4 points off JBU's 10 turnovers.
The third quarter started, and the Lady Tigers found their offensive flow again achieving their largest lead of the game: 17 points. The Golden Eagles did their best keeping up with Campbellsville though and the Lady Tigers only outscored JBU by three. At the end of the third quarter, Ashley McGeorge has 15 points and took over as leading scorer for CU. The Golden Eagles had a 17-point trail they sought to eliminate.
JBU started the quarter off strong outscoring CU ten to six, but the Lady Tigers bounced back quickly and extended their lead. Halfway through the quarter, Pritchett nailed her third three pointer of the game and shot six for six from the field. The Lady Tigers defeated the Golden Eagles 82-60.
Not missing a single shot, Pritchett ended up with 17 points and leading the team was Ashley McGeorge with 19 points. McGeorge went seven for eight in the field. John Brown University shot 21 of 49 in field goals and eight of 23 in three pointers. CU goes for 30 of 56 in field goals and 10 of 23 three pointers. They Lady Tigers had 13 steals while the Golden Eagles only had five.
Campbellsville's next game is November 13
th as they travel to Montgomery, W.Va. to play West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
