Tigers log 0 from deep, fall to the Blue Raiders

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Tigers faced the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders in a Battle of Highway 55 contest Saturday afternoon. Campbellsville was unable to best Lindsey Wilson 90-68.

Although the Tigers won the tip-off, Lindsey Wilson mustered the first score and would never trail from that point. Early on, Campbellsville accumulated several offensive rebounds to ensure second chance points. The Tigers kept the Blue Raiders at arm's reach for some time but couldn't claw past. With nine minutes remaining, Campbellsville sat at an eight-point deficit. At that time he Tigers were shooting a 37.5 field goal percent whereas their opponents earned a 57 percent. The Blue Raiders ran up an 18-point lead and Campbellsville's accretion of eight turnovers was hindering any comeback efforts. Malachi De Sousa was able to bring the Blue Raider lead back into the teens with a layup. From the line, the Tigers were not able to display consistency.

Campbellsville trailed the Blue Raiders at the half 48-27. The Tigers attempted only 22 field goals as the Blur Raiders made 20 of their 36. Jarius Key was the bright spot of the Tiger offense as he totaled 12 points going into the second half.

The last 20 minutes began unrewarding to the Tigers. Despite being unable to surmount a charge that stuck, a pair of charity shots set Key's new career-high in points at 20, free throws made in a game at six, and free throws attempts at 10. Typical Tiger playmakers struggled to find their groove. Lindsey Wilson's ball movement and perimeter penetration was unceasing in their momentum sustaining the lead.
