Lady Tigers win Battle of Highway 55 contest

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers faced-off against rival Lindsey Wilson College in Powell Athletic Center Tuesday night. Campbellsville won the Battle of Highway 55 with a score of 93-60. 
 
The Lady Tigers stand at #1 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, while the Blue Raiders are currently receiving votes. The starters of the evening were Faith Lake, Lexy Lake, Ashlee McGeorge, Bailey Pedigo, and Courtney Pritchett.
 
Campbellsville set the tone for the Lady Tigers by winning the tip. Although the Lady Tigers turned over the ball in the first possession, control was reversed  to Campbellsville after taking a charge. Campbellsville were able to capitalize off a pair of steals and some fouls, and the Lady Tigers went on a 15-point run before Lindsey Wilson mustered a three-pointer to bring the score to 17-5.. Kaitlyn Wilks came off the bench and had a six point-run for the Lady Tigers by herself. The first quarter ended 23-9 in the Lady Tiger's favor. 
 
The second quarter was equally rewarding for Campbellsville. The Lady Tigers started hot with a shot from the perimeter by Faith Lake. Pritchett earned a basket after receiving a rebound for the Lady Tigers. Maddy Boyle came into the game and went back-to-back with a layup and three-pointer to make the score 33-13. Campbellsville continued their trek up the scoreboard by making several layups. The Lady Tigers maintained a lead of at least 20 points for the last four minutes of the quarter. The score at the half was 45-26. 
 
Half time statistics displayed the Lady Tigers' authority over the game. Campbellsville received second chance baskets from offensive rebounds for a total of eight second chance points whereas Lindsey had zero. The Lady Tigers capitalized in the paint as they tallied 32 total points within the area. The Blue Raiders were forced into 11 turnovers which Campbellsville turned into ten points. 
 
Into the third, the Lady Tigers did not lose intensity. Campbellsville shot from serval spots on the court and from many different players to keep Lindsey Wilson off balance. Campbellsville drove to the paint and used McGeorge as an asset to put up more points for the Lady Tigers. A pair of three-pointers were made by Sarah Sutton to make the score 61-35. Boyle was persistent as she pulled up with another three followed by Sutton with a basket under the hoop. Sutton ended the third with a pair of made free throws for a score of 76-42. 
 
In the final quarter, McGeorge earned herself an and-one and the offensive firepower of the the Lady Tigers continued. As the score showed 80-45, Boyle went in for a layup making the score 82-45. Madison Drummonds was able to accumulate seven points in the quarter to aid in the Lady Tigers. The game ended with the Lady Tiger leading 93-60.
 
Wilks was a basket away from breaking her career high as she totaled 16 points in the match with all of her points coming in the opening half. McGeorge and Sutton both tallied 13 points and Boyle followed with ten points. McGeorge collected seven rebounds, whereas Pritchett and Wilks trailed with four. Pritchett logged six assists while teammates Shyla Calbert (4) and Lauren Lee (3) dished dimes for the Lady Tigers.
 
Campbellsville will compete next at Cumberland University (Tenn.) on December 11th. The Mid-South match-up will begin at 3 p.m. ET.
