CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Continuing their strong play to start the spring season, the Campbellsville University women's volleyball team earned a sweep win over Thomas More in their first Mid-South Conference match of the 2020 season.
The Lady Tigers never really had to sweat any set as they won by scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-13. CU had the advantage in every major team category hitting for a .232 percentage with 36 kills, 10 aces, six blocks, 34 assists, and 54 digs.
Campbellsville had strong individual attacking nights from
Sutton Mason,
Jalyn Michael,
Sophie Ball,
Sonia Flendrich, and
Alina Zellin. Mason led all attackers with 10 kills as the only player in double figures as Michael, Ball, and Flendrich all added six kills with Zellin finishing five.
Setter
Paige Merrick continues her strong play this season with another double-double at 29 assists and 12 digs as she added three kills on the night as well. Merrick and Zellin combined for three block assists as Michael also added three total blocks with a solo and two assists.
Defenders
Katie Morin and
Taylor Thacker had strong performances on the back row combining for 20 digs with Morin contributing 16 of those and only one service reception error.
Zuzanna Lobos only came in to serve for Zellin but finished with four aces and helped CU get a 5-0 run, 4-0 run in the third set.
The Lady Tigers will hit the road for a match on Saturday at Shawnee State before returning home to face Freed-Hardeman and Bethel next week.
