PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Looking to continue their unbeaten streak to start 2021, the Campbellsville University women's volleyball team was not fortunate enough to pull of their sixth-straight win Saturday afternoon as they fell to Shawnee State University 3-2.
The sets went 21-25, 25-13, 25-23, 22-25, 15-9 in favor of the Bears pulling out the final set. Both teams had over 200 total attacks in the match with SSU finishing the match with a .159 hitting percentage and the Lady Tigers finishing with a .083 hitting percentage.
Macie Rhoads for the Bears finished with a match-high 27 kills in the match as she took 74 swings on the ball with only 10 errors. Rhoads also added 33 digs as six different players for SSU finished double digit digs in the match.
The Lady Tigers were led on the attack by
Sophie Ball as she finished with 15 kills as she finished with a double-double with 13 digs herself.
Sutton Mason was the only other Lady Tiger in double figures with kills as she had 10 kills and a double-double with 11 digs.

Katie Morin had a match-high 43 digs for her career-high in the category as
Paige Merrick (14) and
Sonia Flendrich (22) also had strong defensive efforts. Merrick, once again, had a double-double with assists and digs as she had 34 assists for CU.
Campbellsville will have back-to-back home matches coming up next week when they play host to Freed-Hardeman University and Bethel University next Thursday and Saturday.
