Second quarter surge leads to Lady Tigers’ 20-point win over Lindsey Wilson

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Looking to bounce straight back to winning ways, the Campbellsville University Women's Basketball team did just that as they swept away Lindsey Wilson College 78-58 in what was a contest between the two rival teams.

The Blue Raiders took the first quarter leading CU 21-18, but the Lady Tigers would only turn the heat up, leading to an impressive second quarter performance.

CU fought hard through the second quarter relishing an 8-0 run for the last 3:34 of the half closing out with a 14-point lead at 44-30. Sophomore Sarah Sutton drove CU through the quarter leading the team with 12 points, 6 of which came from behind the three-point line. Sutton finished with just 14 points but her second quarter barrage played a big factor in CU's turnaround.

The Lady Tigers continued to assert their dominance going into the third quarter which would see them earn a 20-point lead at the 02:31 mark as they maintained or regained that lead all the way through the final buzzer.

Campbellsville shot 30-for-78 in the game --- LWC failed to find a way back into the game despite a 44.2% shooting percentage from the field, they could not find enough opportunities to make a dent in CU's lead. A lot of Lindsey Wilson's struggles came in ball security as they turned the ball over 26 times that led to 30 Campbellsville points.

It was business as usual for Sammy Rodgers, as the Lawrenceburg, Ky. native led the Lady Tigers in points with 16 for the night. Rogers had a field day on both ends of the floor, shooting 6-for-12 from the field, 1-4 on three-pointers, and making all three of her free-throws, while adding 7 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Courtney Pritchett displayed a notable performance as she led the team in rebounds with eight boards in addition to her 4 assists and 7 points. Scoring was balanced throughout the lineup as Madison Sheppard and Lauren Lee both scored nine points, Savannah Gregory and Maddy Boyle added six, Bailey Pedigo and Ashlee McGeorge scored four apiece, and Lexy Lake knocked down one three-pointer.

For the Blue Raiders, Reagan Turner put up 21-points as the game's leading scorer, it was not enough to bail out her team. Turner was the stand-out player for LWC, shooting 8-for-12 from the field, also leading her team in rebounds with 9.

Next up for Campbellsville will be a Monday evening matchup against Georgetown College in Georgetown Ky. at 5:30 p.m. ET.
