Merrick's double-double and Michael's career-high helps Lady Tigers sweep Asbury

WILMORE, Ky. — Lady Tiger volleyball doubled the kill output of Asbury University and ran away with a straight-set win over the Eagles on Saturday afternoon, 25-8, 25-16, 25-16.  
 
The Lady Tigers (5-2) have started the spring semester with four straight wins including back-to-back sweeps over Cumberland University and Asbury. 
 
Sutton Mason led the way for CU with nine kills, while Sophie Ball finished with six along with Jalyn Michael – which is a career-high for Michael. 
 
In addition to hitting .245 as a team, the Lady Tigers finished with nine aces compared to just one for Asbury. 
 
Setter Paige Merrick led the way with 17 assists and also finished with 10 digs for a double-double. Mackenzie Poteet also contributed passing with eight assists and two aces overall. 
 
Sonia Flendrich and Katie Morin also tallied 13 digs, while Taylor Thacker finished with seven to lead CU's defensive effort. 
 
Campbellsville now enters Mid-South Conference play on Monday, Feb. 16 as the Lady Tigers travel to Georgetown College with first serve set for 6 p.m. ET.
