Lady Tiger volleyball wins third-straight via sweep in 3-0 victory over Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Playing in their second of three-straight road matches, the Campbellsville University women's volleyball team earned their third-straight win by sweep fashion with their 3-0 win at University of the Cumberlands.

The Lady Tigers won all three sets by four or more points to win pretty comfortably over the Patriots 25-21, 25-18, and 25-19 on Thursday night.

Not a very efficient night for CU, they attacked for a .164 hitting percentage but defensively they held the advantage in digs and blocks in the match. The three leaders in kills for Campbellsville were Sonia Flendrich with 10, Sutton Mason with eighth, and Paige Merrick with seven.

Merrick was close to a triple-double with kills, assists, and digs, as she led the Lady Tigers with 25 assists and added eight digs with her seven kills to have a strong all-around performance. Katie Morin and Sophie Ball provided strong back row play as well with 17 and 10 digs respectively to provide a nice defensive unit for CU.

For the Patriots, Lily Chapman was the match leader in kills with 16 on 44 total attempts and Savanah Schwarz finished with the match-high in assists with 30.

Campbellsville will stay on the road for one more match when they travel to Pikeville, Ky. for a Saturday match starting at 2 p.m. ET against University of Pikeville.
