LAKELAND, Fla. —Campbellsville women's basketball forced 22 Bryan turnovers and hit 49 percent of their shots from the field to run away from Bryan College tonight in the Lakeland Opening Round at The Furnace on the campus of Southeastern University, 90-57.
The Lady Tigers got contributions all down the roster, as Lauren Lee scored a career-high 11 points with four assists and three steals.
CU (19-2) sprinted from a 12-5 lead in the opening frame with Lee, Sarah Sutton and Courtney Pritchett combining for 15 points to solidify a 25-8 lead with :58 left in the first quarter.
A 16-0 run in the middle of the second quarter put Campbellsville up 47-16 at the 2:46 mark with Ashley McGeorge, Faith Lake and Madison Sheppard inflicting most of the damage.
Bryan (18-3) had three players in double figures, Karli Combs, Gracee Dishman and Kaitlynn Hennessee, but most of those scores came late when coach Ginger High Colvin cleared her bench.
Sutton and Lexy Lake led the Lady Tigers with 12 points apiece. Lake, Sutton, Savannah Gregory and Pritchett combined for eight of the nine made 3s with two apiece. Lake led the team with four steals.
The Campbellsville defense held Bryan, normally a 47 percent shooting team, to 40 percent from the field, 22 percent from 3.
Lake, Lee, and Sutton were also joined in double figures by Gregory's 11 points.
The Lady Tigers will now move on to Sioux City, Iowa where they will be making their 28th appearance in the national tournament. The 40th Annual NAIA Women's Basketball Championship will be contested March 18-23 at the Tyson Events Center.
