CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – A pair of goals in the first half by Bethel's Alphonso Gooden, was all the Wildcats needed for a win on the road, 2-1 over the Campbellsville University men's soccer team.
The first half started out slow, through the first 18 minutes, not a single shot had been recorded. There were nine total fouls within this timeframe. Campbellsville would take two shots in the next minute, being the only two shots the Tigers took in the first half.
The momentum would change, and Bethel controlled the last 15 minutes of half number one. In the 41
st minute, Alphonso Gooden would make a clean touch in the midfield with his right foot to his left foot, before finding the net.
Campbellsville would have a turnover and a foul, setting up Bethel for another chance before half. It was a cross sent in that found Gooden again, as he would take a few touches in the box before finishing off his second goal in two minutes. The 43
rd minute goal would have Bethel leading by two at half.
There were 18 fouls called in half number one and that continued in the second. 31 fouls and three yellow cards were handed out this afternoon.
Eleder Goicoechea tried to get the momentum swing back on Campbellsville's side in the 75
th minute.
Sebastiano Musu would center a ball in the box and Goicoechea would fire his fourth goal of the season. Campbellsville would have three or four more scoring chances in the closing minutes, none being the equalizer.
The Tigers finish up their three-game home stand with Freed-Hardeman on Tuesday Night. Kickoff is slated for 8 pm and will be broadcasted live via the Campbellsville University Sports Network.
