PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Looking to return to the win column, the Campbellsville University men's soccer team played 110 minutes to a 0-0 tie against Shawnee State University on Tuesday evening.
The Tigers and Bears combined for 39 total shots, but each time only had five shots on goal over the four periods of play. Goalkeepers
Jeremi Campagnolo of CU and Bas Markus of SSU matched each other's efforts as they both made five saves in their 110-minute shutouts.
The leading shot taker in the game was Campbellsville's
Eleder Goicoechea as he fired seven shots at Markus with only two of those seven attempts requiring a save.
Sebastiano Musu and
Gustav Oskarsson for the Tigers as well as Thierry van den Bergh and Thomas de Graauw all took three shots in the game as well.
Four yellow cards were handed out, two to each team apiece as Musu and Bruno Rovares were booked in the second half then
Gianluca Contegno and Joao Toledo picked up yellow cards in the second overtime.
The Tigers play on the road once again next Sunday when they travel to Crestview Hills, Ky. to face Thomas More at 3 p.m. ET.
